Winter Warmer!

Nothing better at this time of year than a brisk walk out in the fresh air of the Surrey Hills and then back home to warm up by the AGA.

This kitchen design has lots of beautifully designed bespoke elements including the forged iron back splash and cleverly hidden spice rack.  Now you see it....

In the Cellar

Our expert Rupert Pritchett from Taurus Wines has given his recommendations to go compliment your festive feasts, pictured above.

Frédéric Magnien sources his grapes from local Côte de Nuits colleagues who share his outlook – so they’re all from organic or even bio-dynamic vineyards with very old vines – hence the ‘vieilles vignes’ in the name. The grapes are hand-picked, destemmed and hand-sorted – with all this hardwork going towards a robust and rich full-bodied style of Gevrey-Chambertin which is excellent with game and red meat, yet it will also happily sit in your cellar for at least five Christmasses to come. Frédéric Magnien Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 2014 - £39.99

Albert Grivault bought this patch of vineyards in Burgundy in 1879 and today his grandchildren Michel and Claire Bardet are the winemakers in this hallowed corner of France. This rich and buttery wine is quite complex with creamy, lightly toasted almonds and hazlenuts on the nose, followed by an amazingly fresh and mineral palate. It’s a Christmas classic with turkey or goose and would be a perfect treat for the big day itself. Albert Grivault Meursault 2013 - £49.99 Not available online, please phone Taurus Wines on 01483 54 84 84 to order.
